Norwich Castle Keep, Norfolk

The Gateway to Medieval England project will make all five of the Keep’s levels accessible for the first time, and create a large terrace on the roof with passenger lift access so that all visitors can enjoy the wonderful view from the top. Framlingham Castle, Suffolk
Client: English Heritage
The ‘Lifting the Curtain on Framlingham Castle’ project will significantly improve access and inclusion for visitors to the Grade I Listed Scheduled Ancient Monument, making the second floor of the Workhouse and part of the route around the castle’s walls step-free for the first time. Work completed by Rachael Marshall on behalf of David Bonnett Associates.
Adaptiv Passivhaus competition
Architects: Prewett Bizley Architects | Paul Davis + Partners.
Innovative solutions for residential accessible design were proposed by Rachael as part of the competition design team, one of six finalists for the BRE Watford Innovation Park 2012 Passivhaus design competition.
East Village, Stratford
Olympic Athletes Village (now East Village), with various architects, for Lend Lease while at David Bonnett Associates.
Peterborough Cathedral
Architects: Marshall Sisson and The Whitworth Co-Partnership LLP, for Peterborough 900, while at David Bonnett Associates.
Rachael is particularly interested in working with heritage buildings that require a careful balance between access and conservation issues. Other examples include Adam Khan Architects’ refurbishment of the New Horizon Youth Centre near King’s Cross and Christ Church Crypt (see below).
Foyles bookshop and Saint Martin's Lofts, Charing Cross Road
Architect: Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.
Client: Foyles / Noved One.
Rachael was the lead consultant for this project while working at David Bonnett Associates. The development transformed the former Central Saint Martin's art school building into a new flagship Foyles store, with apartments above. Despite being inserted into and on top of the existing building these units meet all of the residential access standards and regulations.
Kingsgate House, East Building
Architect: Lynch Architects.
Client: Land Securities.
Kingsgate is a large development on London's Victoria Street comprising commercial space in the West Building and 99 high-specification apartments in the East Building. Rachael worked with Lynch Architects to provide reports and advice about inclusive design for this project from pre-application stage to nearing completion while at David Bonnett Associates.
Christ Church Crypt
Architect: Dow Jones Architects.
Major refurbishment of the crypt beneath Nicholas Hawksmoor's eighteenth century church in Spitalfields, including inclusive access using a series of ramps and two lifts while at David Bonnett Associates.
One the Elephant, Elephant & Castle

A 37 storey new-build tower and pavilion comprising 284 new Homes for Lend Lease, while at David Bonnett Associates.
